Law clerk attends the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) gala
Our Law Clerk, Marc Neckles, attended the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) gala on November 6th , celebrating its 40 years of advocacy. OCASI acts as a collective voice for member agencies serving immigrants in all matters. Its mission is to achieve equality, access to services and programs, and full participation for immigrants and refugees in the social, cultural, political and economic life of Ontario. OCASI has been notably involved in funding and promoting initiatives like the anti-black racism campaign, the anti-islamophobia campaign, and the #4immigrantwomen, a campaign using a graphic novel to share stories of immigrant women and bring light to social issues in a visual, accessible and engaging way. The gala featured an awards presentation ceremony, a riveting speech about how OCASI came to be, and spoken word poetry and song performances by SPIN El Poeta and Mahlikah Awe:ri. It was a night to remember and a great way to celebrate the impact and success OCASI has had on the community.
